Possible New Games for PS5

The moment we’ve all waited for has arrived. A new console generation is upon us (well, for those of us who can get our hands on one of those consoles), and new games are slowly trickling in. This time around, we’ve been blasted with Demon’s Souls and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, but we all just can’t wait for what else Sony has to offer. Here are the main games that have been announced (exclusive or not), and some games I hope to see on the console.

Announced

Resident Evil Village

Seeming to go more into the horror aspect, Resident Evil Village looks to be growing into quite the game. I’ll admit, I have not played the previous games (go ahead and yell at me), but this one seems to be shaping into one that I may…if the horror aspect doesn’t get to me.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits

Honestly, I have no clue what this game is, but I’m won over. From a cute art style resembling Breath of the Wild to environments that look stellar, this is looking to be a game that could be a breakthrough for Sony.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart

Following in the footsteps of its predecessor, Rift Apart seems to take Clank and our favorite Lombax into the PS5 era. With the lightning fast SSD, this game appears to be a showcase for what the console is capable of. Borrowing elements from the reboot in 2016, the new step into the Ratchet and Clank series appears to be bold-and I like it.

Final Fantasy XVI

In a surprise, Final Fantasy XVI appears to be a PS5 exclusive (yes you heard that right). Unlike its predecessor, this one seems to go back to the traditional vibe of the Middle Ages, so better luck next time if you were hoping for high speed car chases next to a fantasy setting. Overall, with the fast paced combat and the stellar score, this game looks as if it has it all. We only hope the graphics will look a bit better when the game comes out.

Horizon: Forbidden West

As the sequel to the best game on the PS4 (sorry God of War), Horizon Zero Dawn set the bar high for what Killzone could do…then they announced Forbidden West. Although the new adventure into Aloy’s life was rumored to be a launch title, it is now set for a late 2021 release date (I’m guessing August/October). I couldn’t be more thrilled as the game looks stellar. However, concerns of its multi-platform release remain as we hope another Cyberpunk isn’t pulled.

God of War 5

I honestly cannot wait for this guys. God of War 2018 pushed the limits of the PS4, creating photo realistic graphics that takes you on a story in which you’ll cry and gawk at the screen. I always knew Kratos was just a bloodthirsty maniac, but then I tried God of War 2018 and I fell in love. With a release date set at the end of 2021 (I honestly doubt it), this game is shaping up to be a stellar sequel…even though we’ve only seen a teaser.

Predictions

Now look, most of these to happen are just my thoughts, but some of them have a realistic chance of happening. I’ve ordered these from most likely to least.

Uncharted 5

With a new studio made by Sony reportedly working on this, it seems like the most likely option. I just recently had the joy of playing this series and I cannot wait to get more of a taste. On the PS5, the dual sense controller would be PHENOMENAL for creating the movie like quality of the game. Combined with even more fast paced scenarios and larger than life set pieces, this game could be a blockbuster the console desperately needs. I just hope this new studio can do Naughty Dog justice.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2

Phew, I managed to remember to put the hyphen in between again. As the sequel to the original, this will hopefully create a new, or at least, larger map. I would love to see the SSD at use, as the original map was a bit small compared to the scale of New York. Adding in the rest of the boroughs would be a delight, and with another story that may make me tear up near the end, I cannot wait for this. It’s also inevitable.

Ghost of Tsushima 2

I know it just game out, but I’ve heard stellar reviews of Ghost of Tsushima from players. Some hail it as a beautiful game that is a testament to the PS4, and while critics weren’t all won over, it still set the bar high for future PS5 games. The sequel is basically certain. I’m expecting around a 2023 to 2024 release date, but it will most definitely happen. I hope to see it expand on the ghost feature in the game, as that was mostly lacking.

Last of Us: Part III

I think I may be in the minority when I say this, but the Last of Us: Part II is one of the best games ever made. As the only video game that has made me cry, it sets the bar high for future linear games. With crazier than life graphics, it manages to tear through so many characters with depth unrivaled since the first game. Connecting with Ellie and Abby really made me question who was right in this clash of moralities. And best of all, it answers the oldest question-is revenge worth ruining your life over? This is why I hope to see Naughty Dog make another sequel. I would be glad for this to be near the end of the PS5’s life cycle, as they’ll have plenty of time to work on it. I just hope they put the fans’ desires over insane character deaths that will make you curse at the TV and make your blood boil.

Another FromSoftware Exclusive

I truly hope this happens. My friend got me to play Bloodborne, but I was skeptical going in. Would it be too hard? And yes, it most definitely was. However, I started to realize that was the point, and as I progressed more and more, I found my love for the genre. This is the only game where I have had the satisfaction of progressing through pure skill alone, and I want to taste it all over again. Anything would work really. I’m even down for a Bloodborne 2.

Sly 5

The fact that a new Sly game didn’t come out on the PS4 is a disgrace. The hidden gem that is this series is EXTREMELY underrated. As one of the first video game franchises I’ve played, it always has a soft spot for me, and with open world areas that were crazy for the day and gameplay that was stunning, why wouldn’t it. Please Sucker Punch. Just do it.

With many franchises set to make a debut on the new generation, I’ll be blogging about it. Please message me for any ideas as to what to write about next, and other games you hope to see in the future of the PS5!

Signing off, Daniyal
